(J. Edgar Hoover) began his show business career with Chicago’s Second City Comedy Troupe and is best known for his role as Norm Peterson on the classic television sitcom Cheers! In addition to the Cheers! role that earned him six Emmy nominations, George has appeared in more than 100 TV shows (among them Taxi, Soap, M*A*S*H, Wings, Frasier and The Simpsons), movies and music videos. George has nine appearances on Saturday Night Live, most memorably as Bob Swerski, one of the Chicago Bears Superfans. His feature film credits include Forever Young, Guilty by Suspicion, Fletch, Gang Ho, Rupert’s Land and Outside Providence. On Broadway, George did a turn in Art, and played Edna Turnblad in Hairspray as well as Breakfast at Tiffany’s. He has appeared in productions off-Broadway, in London, and toured the U.S. in the Roundabout Theatre production of Twelve Angry Men, starring alongside Richard Thomas. George originated the role of Santa Claus in the Broadway smash hit Elf – a new musical adaptation of the Will Ferrell movie from Warner Bros. George created the role of Dean Halsey in a new musical adaptation of Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator, also in Los Angeles.
