When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. ABOUT THE PLAYHOUSE YOUTH COMPANY: Now in its 6th year, Playhouse Youth Company is a 5-week intensive training program for students with a serious interest in theater to receive valuable theatrical instruction from working Broadway artists. Bucks County Playhouse’s rigorous training program includes daily rehearsals for a professionally produced production; master classes with artists from the Playhouse’s main stage; and outreach performances throughout the region. Last summer, Playhouse Youth Company performed for more than 3,100 people on the Playhouse mainstage and in outreach performances at local libraries, museums and festivals.

Young performers who earned a spot in the 2018 company participated in daily workshops and classes including musical theater performance, acting, dance, voice, and improvisation, while also attending guest workshops led by working theater professionals. Their work culminated in a fully produced production of an all new adaptation of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella based on the recent Broadway revival. The production was under the direction of Broadway and Television actress/director Kate Wetherhead, who recently appeared at the Playhouse in Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Playhouse Christmas Show and on Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
