Band Bios

“The River Drivers”

Four friends, more than half a dozen instruments, and good craic. “The River Drivers” have roots in Ireland and Scotland by way of the Borough of Bristol (Pennsylvania) and play a combination of traditional Irish tunes and songs, as well as folk music from America and the rest of the Anglo-Celtic world.

“The River Drivers” are a band with roots that run deep in a number of musical genres. Anchored by Kevin McCloskey (vocals, guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass) and Mindy Murray (vocals, guitar, banjo) with accompaniment by Marian Moran (tin whistle, low whistle, concertina) and Meagan Ratini (fiddle, Irish flute, tin whistle), “The River Drivers” have cultivated a passion-infused style drawing from Celtic, Americana and Mountain influences.

“The John Byrne Band”

Combining Irish and American Folk styles, the Philadelphia Daily News calls “The John Byrne Band” “Edgy yet accessible, in a Luka Bloom meets Dylan kind of way.”

“The John Byrne Band” is led by former “Patrick’s Head” front man and Dublin native John Byrne. Their debut album, “After the Wake,” was released to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic in 2010. With influences ranging from “The Chieftains” to “Planxty” to Bob Dylan, John’s songwriting honors and expands upon the musical and lyrical traditions of his native and adopted homes.

John and the band play as an acoustic 4-piece featuring banjo, fiddle/cello, guitars and bodhran, and as a 7 piece that adds drums, bass and accordion to its lineup.

“Galway Girls”

“The Galway Girls” are keeping the tradition of authentic Irish music alive with three-part harmonies on classics like Fields of Athenry, Whiskey in the Jar, Danny Boy and more! Featuring Meredith Beck, Irene Molloy and Janice Landry with special guests Billy Monaghan and “Celtic Pride.”

“Celtic Pride”

Rustic, energetic, and light-hearted, “Celtic Pride” delivers traditional and modern Irish tunes in the flavor of “The Clancy Brothers,” “Dubliners,” “Irish Rovers,” and “U2.”

This high spirited band is also capable of poignant, touching ballads, featuring Bill Monaghan on vocals, acoustic guitar, tin whistle, harmonica, and recorder, and occasional piano; Jim Monaghan on vocals, bass, and guitar; Brian DiBiagio on guitars; with percussion and guest female vocals on occasion.

When “Celtic Pride” performs songs like Wild Colonial Boy and Whiskey in the Jar, the hand-clapping, foot-stomping, rebel rousing energy is contagious, but not to be outdone by touching ballads like Danny Boy and Red is the Rose.

“Celtic Pride” even offers fresh new songs, like Bill’s original Irish Blessing, Donegal, and Philadelphia Kid.
