Bucks County Playhouse is thrilled to launch a new musical development program inspired by the mentorship Oscar Hammerstein offered the young Stephen Sondheim at Highland Farm. We kick off with a special weekend bringing artists, experts and enthusiasts to New Hope for three days of seminars, workshops, special concerts, and private tour of Highland Farm.

The Festival kick-offs on Friday, September 26th with an evening of select scenes and songs from two of the most promising young American musical theatre writers working today. Then on Saturday, Passholders will have access to seminars and a master class with artists and experts in the musical theater field.

Saturday night features Getting to Know You:  An Enchanted Evening of Oscar Hammerstein II, a benefit concert starring Laura Osnes (Cinderella), Corey Cott (Newsies), Mandy Gonzalez (In the Heights) and Lewis Cleale (The Book of Mormon), created and hosted by Ted Chapin, with musical direction by Andy Einhorn (Cinderella).

The Festival culminates with a private Passholder tour led by grandson Will Hammerstein of Highland Farm in nearby Doylestown, where Hammerstein wrote Oklahoma, Carousel and The Sound of Music and mentored the young Stephen Sondheim.
