ABOUT THE PLAYHOUSE YOUTH COMPANY:
Now in its 7th year, the Playhouse Youth Company is a 5-week intensive training program for students with a serious interest in theater to receive valuable theatrical instruction from working Broadway artists. Bucks County Playhouse’s rigorous training program includes daily rehearsals for a professionally produced production, master classes with artists from the Playhouse’s main stage and outreach performances throughout the region. Last summer, the Playhouse Youth Company performed for more than 3,100 people on the Playhouse main stage and in outreach performances at local libraries, museums and festivals.
Young performers who earned a spot in the 2019 company participated in workshops and classes including musical theater performance, acting, dance, voice and improvisation with Playhouse artists, gave outreach performances in the community and performed in the Youth Company cabaret. Their work culminated in a fully produced production of Shrek the Musical Jr. The production was under the direction of Broadway and Television actress/director Kate Wetherhead, who recently appeared at the Playhouse in Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Playhouse Christmas Show and on Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Mary Poppins Jr., under the direction of Kate Wetherhead, will be choreographed by Dani Tucci Juraga with Music Direction by Kyle Duke.
