House Managers

About the Position

Reporting to the Patron Services Manager, the House Manager plays a vital role in ensuring smooth front of house operations as well as a pleasant experience for patrons of the theater. This is a forward-facing position that requires a professional demeanor, grace under pressure, problem-solving skills, and great attention to detail.  This position is hourly and requires nights and weekends. 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Serve as the Manager on Duty for performances; remain with Front of House team until the end of the performance day and serving as the manager for all closing activities. 
  • Serve as the official representative for the organization during performances; make sound effective decisions as the manager on duty 
  • Trouble-shoot onsite problems 
  • Ensure high level of customer service to VIPs 
  • Delegates to and oversees staff and volunteer ushers 
  • Tends to theater patron needs before, during, and after performances including scanning tickets, assisting patrons to their seats, coordinating traffic flow in the house, lobby, and attached restaurant, assisting patrons who use mobility assistive devices 
  • Intervenes disruptive or potentially hazardous patron activity (ie physically intoxicated patrons) 
  • End of night cash handling for Box Office 
  • Complete end-of-performance reports 
  • Opportunity for occasional light office work on non-performance days, when needed 
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisors 

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in customer service 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience with Box Office CRM 
  • Weekend and evening availability 
  • The ability to work actively for 4+ hours 
  • A plus if you enjoy theater or live performances

Status & Compensation: Hourly; Nights and weekend schedule based around performance schedule; $18-20 per hour; Employee discounts available.
