Music Apprentice

Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA is in search of a Music Apprentice for Summer 2022.  The Playhouse has become one of the leading regional theaters on the East Coast and is the largest arts organization in Bucks County.  BCP presents a year-round schedule of six to nine original productions featuring stars of stage and screen, and twenty-five plus visiting artists presentations.  Its two-acre campus includes the historic playhouse, an outdoor courtyard café, waterfall picnic area, river promenade, and a full restaurant/bar.  The BCP Apprentice Company will work on the Playhouse’s mainstage production of KINKY BOOTS, directed by Sheryl Kaller and Hope Boykin, choreographed by Hope Boykin, and music directed by Sheela Ramesh.  The Music Apprentice will assist and support the Music Director directly in rehearsals for two weeks in NYC, working alongside professional actors, singers, dancers, producers, and creatives.  They then travel to New Hope, PA, playing “Keys 2” in the pit band for all performances at the Playhouse.  Additionally, the Music Apprentice leads the charge for the Apprentice Cabaret Series taking place at the Playhouse’s restaurant.  The Music Apprentice music directs all cabarets, leading rehearsals, helping to find and choose repertoire, coaching acting apprentices, and accompanying performances.  To further enrich the summer experiences, Apprentices are responsible for inspiring the next generation by teaching and mentoring the Playhouse Youth Company.

The program is scheduled to run from June 3 through August 1, 2022.  Apprentices receive a weekly stipend, housing in New Hope (if needed), and transportation assistance.

 Applicants must be 18 or older and must be currently enrolled college students or recent graduates. Advanced piano skills and experience with musical theatre repertoire is a requirement.
