The award-winning rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of an East German singer who escaped to America, surviving a botched gender-reassignment surgery that left her with an “angry inch.” After being abandoned in a Kansas trailer park, she turned to music and mentored a young musician named Tommy, who ultimately stole her songs to become a global rock star. Now, Hedwig and her hard-rocking band, The Angry Inch, shadow Tommy’s stadium world tour—performing in smaller venues next door to reclaim her art and tell her side of the story. The production combines a groundbreaking punk-glam score with dark humor to explore themes of betrayal, resilience, and self-discovery.
