Joseph Simonetta liked to help people, especially kids and those who needed a helping hand.
Since its inception, Bucks County Playhouse has been known for its apprentice program; providing young actors the chance to learn from the pros, appearing alongside them on the Playhouse stage, and making professional contacts that can last a lifetime. From the 19-year-old Grace Kelly to Jessica Walter and Rob Reiner, many went on to great careers. The program was restarted in 2017 with four actors and a musical director and many have since made their Broadway debuts.
Most programs at summer theaters have tuition costing thousands of dollars, so even some of the most talented are not able to participate. The Joseph Simonetta Artists Opportunity Fund will provide talented young artists selected from professional training programs to afford housing, a living wage, and the career opportunity of a lifetime. Donations are being accepted by Bucks County Playhouse to support this program. Direct costs per young artist is approximately $18,000 for each 12-week program. Artists will be given the opportunity to be in one or two MainStage productions, work with high school kids and develop a cabaret performance and take part in master classes with Broadway’s brightest. Apprentices will forge real connections with artists and creatives in the business moving them one step ahead to a professional career in New York City.
We encourage Joe’s friends and family to continue his giving spirit. Your support will help make the dreams of young artists come true and allow them to flourish in their future in the arts.
