The Summer 2026 Conservatory is a five-week intensive performance program inspired by the themes and journey of Homer’s The Odyssey, reimagined through a bold, contemporary lens. No Map Home invites young artists to explore what it means to lead, to fail, to change, and to find their way forward when the path is anything but clear.

This ensemble-driven program focuses on collaboration, creative risk, and process over perfection. Through acting, movement, music, and devised theater, participants will build an original performance shaped by their own voices, strengths, and imaginations. This is not a traditional retelling of a classic story, but a modern theatrical exploration rooted in myth, metaphor, and lived experience.

Designed for high school students ready to deepen their training, the conservatory offers daily, conservatory style instruction across multiple disciplines while encouraging students to take ownership of the work they create together.

The program culminates in a fully staged, original presentation for families and invited guests, showcasing physical storytelling, ensemble work, and epic themes brought to life for today’s world.

No prior knowledge of The Odyssey is required; however, curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to take creative risks are essential.

“What Is Devised Theater?”

Devised theater puts you at the center of the creative process. Instead of starting with a script, the ensemble builds the piece together—from first idea to final performance. Through structured exercises and collaboration, you’ll actively create the material that becomes the show.

In this process, students will:
• Improvise scenes from prompts and themes
• Turn personal ideas and experiences into performance
• Build characters using movement, voice, and physical storytelling
• Experiment with staging, transitions, and visual storytelling
• Collaborate on original music, helping create sound and musical moments for the piece
• Combine and refine ideas as a group into a cohesive production

Working alongside industry professionals, you’ll shape this material into a fully realized performance.

Storytelling Meets Innovation

Students will also explore how technology can expand storytelling on stage. Using tools like projection, sound design, and digital media—alongside original music created by the ensemble—the group will experiment with dynamic, layered storytelling techniques that make the final performance feel immediate, immersive, and current.
