Bucks County Playhouse is proud to welcome student audiences to select productions performed on our historic stage throughout the season. Performances are followed by a talk-back with the artists or performers, when available, and study guides for each production are provided to enhance students’ experience at the Playhouse.

Note to Educators: A great companion to your Black History Month programming.

The unsettled West of the 1860s provides a new life and new dreams for Blue, a runaway slave, who escapes to Texas to become one of America’s first Black Cowboys. This compelling tale of freedom integrates fiction with historical fact, and each song presents a different page in this complicated chapter of American History. Age recommendation: 5 and up. Best suited for ages 8 and up.

 

 


THE UGLY DUCKLING – APRIL 5, 2024 • 9AM & 11AM

Lightwire Theatre brings Hans Christian Anderson’s story to life in an unforgettable experience. Featuring a blend of puppetry, electroluminescent technology and dance, “The Ugly Duckling” tells the tale of a duck, who, when hatched along with his brothers and sisters, is ridiculed and ostracized because they perceive him as ugly. Created by semi-finalists from America’s Got Talent, this “Ugly Duckling” is children’s theater that will amaze and entertain the whole family.

NOISES OFF – MAY 23, 2024 • 11AM

Called the “funniest play written in my lifetime” (The New York Times) “Noises Off” is a rollicking, ingenious backstage farce that will leave you in stitches. Opening night of “Nothing’s On” is just hours away and the hapless cast and crew are struggling to complete their dress rehearsal. Can the cast pull their act together before lost lines, love triangles and flying sardines upstage the production? Age recommendation: 14 and up.


ANASTASIA: THE MUSICAL – DECEMBER 5, 2024 • 11AM

From the Tony Award winning creators of “Ragtime,” “Anastasia” is a sweeping musical adventure.

A brave young woman named Anya sets out to discover the mystery of her past but is pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her. Enlisting the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat, the two embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

Age recommendation: 8 and up.
